Asking questions is one of the hardest things for English learners. There might be many reasons for that. One of them is just lack of practice – brak praktyki – lack of practice. So in this episode you are going to drill common yes no questions about the past, using past simple tense.
A yes no question to pytanie na które odpowiadasz tak lub nie.
There are three common question patterns – trzy typowe struktury, wzory aby zacząć pytanie:
- Did you – Did you learn English in the past? Did you have a meeting yesterday?
W miejsce 'you’ możesz wstawić każdą inną osobę. Did he/ Did she/ Did they etc.
Zwróć uwagę, że czasowniki są w bezokolicznikach. Tylko did informuje, że to czas przeszły, ewentualnie określenie czasu jak 'yesterday’, 'in the past’, '2 days ago’.
- Did you not – Did you not hear about this? Did you not see this?
This is a negative question, we can translate it like:
Nie słyszałeś o tym? Did you not hear about this?
Nie widziałeś tego? Did you not see this?
- Were you Was it – czy byłeś / czy było
Were you happy to meet him? Were you able to speak to him?
Was it – Was it easy? Was it important?
Was she – Was she happy? Was he busy?
W pytaniach zamkniętych wszystkie czasowniki idą z 'did’ w pytaniu, oprócz jednego – to be – być, czyli w czasie przeszłym was/were. Kiedy chcemy użyć 'was’ albo 'were’ w pytaniu to stosujemy inwersję, czyli przestawienie:
You were happy. – Were you happy? , he was there – was he there? It was interesting – was it interesting? Etc.
