In this episode we’re going to practise an idiom „come to terms with something”.
You’ll be surprised how we can apply it both to personal challenges and group discussions or negotiations, and we’ll explore these through 10 practical examples.

1. Come to terms with – Accept something difficult czyli pogodzić się z czymś.
The idiom „come to terms with” is very very common in English these days. This idiom has two meanings.
Let me give you 2 examples with the first meaning.
It took her months to come to terms with her father’s passing.
Pogodzenie się ze śmiercią ojca zajęło jej miesiące.
He had to come to terms with the fact that he didn’t get the promotion he worked so hard for.
Musiał się pogodzić z faktem, że nie dostał awansu na który tak ciężko pracował.
The first meaning of „come to terms with” is accepting or getting used to a difficult situation. What situations are hard to come to terms with? Health problems, end of a relationship or losing a loved one or a job.
